Saqib Deshmukh & Zia Ullah
Habib Ullah inquest 2nd- 27th of February 2015 Beaconsfield Coroners Court 10-4pm.
We are inviting you to attend the inquest into the death of Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah next month at Beaconsfield Coroners Court. Habib died during a stop and search by Thames Valley Police officers in a car park in High Wycombe in July 2008.
As some of you will be aware this is the second inquest into his death – the first one in December was abandoned after it was revealed that officers had changed their statements on the advice of their solicitor and in the presence of senior officers and Police Federation representatives.
Since then Justice4Paps have continued to fight to ensure answers and justice for the family and during this time the campaign has received coverage in local and national media radio and television. We enclose a updated timeline that tracks our campaign.
Since Habib’s death in 2008 there have been two other deaths in custody in High Wycombe and Slough of African-Caribbean men. In the last 18 months there have been five Muslim deaths in custody in the UK and as campaigners we have been active in supporting those families and other victims of police harassment and brutality.
Over the last six and half months we and the family members have had to cover the costs of the campaign and we have received very little help. We are now launching a Fighting Fund to raise money for the campaign for the year ahead to cover travel expenses, flyers and publication costs and meeting room hire. I enclose further info and standing order form.
Please support the campaign by attending the inquest next month. A full schedule of the days that key witnesses/experts will be giving evidence will be available shortly.
Yours in struggle
