News from the Campaign
The Justice for Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah held a successful candle-lit vigil on Wednesday 3rd December to mark going into the sixth month since his death.
Between 30-40 people attended in freezing conditions (-3 to -5), lit loads of candles and gave out postcards to people passing by on foot and in cars.
Habib’s brother, his mother and two of his children attended and we were particularly pleased to have Jules Carey, the family solicitor and Harmit Atwal from the Institute of Race Relations attend.
The public meeting at Bucks New University attracted 25-30 people and family & campaign members spoke as well as the solicitor. Raja, Habib’s brother told the meeting his brother’s death was taking it’s toll on Mother’s Hamida Begum. He said ‘The whole family is devastated and still can’t come to terms with it and get their heads straight’. Zia talked about setting up a committee to support the campaign over the long hard years ahead.
